Who is Liz Gerth?
Rooted in the raw, sun-scorched energy of the old school Phoenix punk scene, Liz brings her rebellious spirit to the Pacific Northwest with each brushstroke. Her work centers on bold, unfiltered portrayals of women, of all ages, all shapes, all walks of life—who defy expectations and break social norms with unapologetic power. From grinning grannies who spent time in the joint for their famous Cream Corn to a serene Queen of Hearts thinking back on her best plays, her portraits are both confrontational and deeply human.
Influenced by the women we all know and love who simply don’t give a damn—women who live on their own terms, laugh too loud, do what they want, dress how they please, and couldn’t care less about fitting in. Her paintings capture that fierce defiance celebrating a kind of freedom that’s both radical and deeply personal. Each piece is a love letter to the unruly, the unbothered, and the beautifully unfiltered. Liz’s Ladies are gritty yet intimate—melding subtle linework, vibrant palettes, and fierce emotion. She doesn’t just paint women; she paints their stories, their kills, their time carved lines, and their resistance.
Her art isn’t meant to sit quietly on a wall. It’s meant to shout, and flip you off when told “She should smile more”
